Question: What is SorcererCon?

Answer:

  • SorcererCon is a fantasy based convention that embraces everyone and everything.  We believe that the magic makes up fantasy is everywhere, in science fiction, horror, anime, furries, SteamPunk, comic's and fantasy.  We encourage attendees to show up in costume, to pick along your favorite books/manga/comic books, watch

 

Question: When is SorcererCon?

Answer:

  • November 26 to November 28, 2010.  Basically it starts the day after Thanksgiving Day and goes through the weekend.

 

Question: Where is it going to be be?

Answer:

 

Question: What is going to be happening at SorcererCon?

Answer:

  • On a daily basis we will be having panel discussion covering a variety of different subjects, lead by qualified panelist, live demonstrations on how to (build armor, make a sword, create a costume, apply alien makeup, weave a rug with a loom, etc.), an Art Show, Dealers Room, an anime video room, gaming (board to role playing), groaner classic 'B' movies and evening events that will have a food theme.

 

Question: Are you going to be using a hotel or a convention center?

Answer:

  • We are going at the St. Claire hotel for the SorcererCon only.  Check out the Hotel page for more information.

 

Question:  How much is a membership for SorcererCon?

Answer:

  • It depends when you purchase your membership.  I would refer you to the Registration Page for more details.

 

Question:  Can we buy one day memberships and if yes, how much will they be?

Answer:

  • Yes and that will be determined in November 2010 and posted on the Registration page.

 

Question:  How much will the St. Claire hotel cost us to stay one night?

Answer:

  • $85.00 for one person for one night in one room.
  • $85.00 for two people for one night in one room.
  • $95.00 for three people for one night in one room.
  • $105.00 for four people for one night in one room.

Question:  Is there a cost to park our car at the hotel?

Answer

  • For each room night, one car will get free parking.

 

Question:  What other activities can I do when I'm not at the hotel?

Answer:

  • The City of San Jose has lots of outside activities that anyone can enjoy, such as the Tech Museum, the outdoor museum of art, hundreds of nearby restaurants, dozens of night clubs, walking tours of the local area, golfing, sky diving.

 

Question:  Are there transportation hubs near the hotel?

Answer:

  • The St. Claire is on the VAT rail lines, along with several other forms of public transportation and we will post it here and on the Transportation page. 

 

Question:  What is an appropriate age for attending SorcererCon?

Answer:

  • 13 years and older would be appropriate.  If your parents are coming along and staying with you, you can be younger.  We do feature many adult/child activities and we encourage parents to come along with their children.

 

Question:  Can I volunteer to be a staffer at SorcererCon?

Answer

  • Yes, but you need to be at least 13 years old, please check the Staffer page for additional information.

 

Question:  Is there a different between being a Staffer and Volunteering?

Answer:

  • Yes. 
    • Staffer works during the years on making SorcererCon happen and a Volunteer starts at the beginning of the event and works as assigned or needed. 
    • Staffers will get a customized embroider t-shirt (with their name, department and SorcererCon logo) as well as getting a room to share during the convention for free and food. 
    • Volunteers will have access to food and if available, crash space for sleeping.  If they work their required twenty (20) hours, than they will get the free t-shirt and a refund of their membership.

 

Question:  Can I volunteer to be a panelist?

Answer:

  • Yes. 
    • However, you need to be qualified in the subject matter that the panel is going to presenting.
